The City of Battle Creek is seeking a Service Desk Technician to provide basic technical software, hardware, and network problem resolution to all City of Battle Creek computer users by performing questions/problem diagnosis and guiding users through step by step solutions in a call center environment; clearly communicate technical solutions in a user friendly professional manner using non-technical language; provide one on one end user training or group training as needed; gather enough information that the Network Computer Support Tech can take over more complex incidents without contacting the end user; conduct hardware and software inventories and reporting and perform related work as required. Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, Comp TIAA A+ certification or determined equivalent A+ certification, demonstrated experience in troubleshooting PC hardware and software, and considerable knowledge of IT principles, practices and equipment. Quality and accuracy of work with the ability to work under stressful, changing conditions is also required.
